We would like to wish Adam, Lexie and Joseph well as they leave Clontibret NS and transition into secondary school. We thank them for their very positive contribution to the life of Clontibret over the past 8 years.
As you are aware by now my time as Principal is coming to an end. Thank you to each and every parent and child for you help and support throughout the past 24 years. It has been a pleasure to teach all the children, past and present and to see past pupils progress through secondary school, college and contributing to society through their work. It makes me very proud to hear how everyone is progressing in their adult lives. I especially wish to thank Amanda, Claire, Sandra, Siobhan & Caroline who have been a wonderful team to work alongside. Their dedication to our family of pupils is second to none and I have every confidence that they will continue to work hard and make Clontibret NS an inviting school for all. Finally thank you to all Board of Management members for their voluntary work and contribution to school life.
May everyone enjoy a safe and enriching summer holiday and I wish everyone God’s Richest Blessings in the future.
Julie.

Junk Art Day
On the 4th June, we had our Junk Art Day. Sixth Class really enjoyed Junk Art when they were in the Junior Room. We wanted to give them a chance to recreate one of their favourite memories, before they leave for secondary school. Everybody brought in boxes. Then we got into groups of five. There were four groups. Each group made something different. At the end we had a house, lorry, a time machine and two castles. We all had great fun!

Swimming
Every year, we go swimming with the school in Coral Leisure Centre. There are two groups. One is in the shallow end and the other is in the deep end. Each group has a swimming instructor that teaches different swimming techniques. We learn how to dive, thread water and most importantly we learn how to swim. It is a very fun P.E. lesson that we get to do. When we are finished learning we get a few minutes of play time. We can choose to either go on the slide or swim in the shallow end. Then we go back to school on the bus.

Projects
In school we are all making projects. The projects are handmade paper books that everyone gets to write facts about whatever they want. It could be anything. It could be vehicles, animals, famous people, flags, different countries or even famous monuments. We look up the facts on the iPads. In the paper books we have a cover, a contents page, a blurb and 10 pages to write facts about our chosen topic. I wrote about 5 different animals – a sea turtle, a red panda, a panda, a Bernese mountain dog and a deer. Emily wrote about different breeds of dogs. We all really enjoyed making these projects and researching our chosen topics.

Greenway Walks
For the last three Fridays, we have walked the greenway from the Mall Road to the Swimming Pool on our way to swimming lessons. We saw a duck and a little duckling swimming in the canal. It was great fun to get cars, tractors and lorries to beep their horns at us. We beat our record on the last Friday, with a whooping 42 beeps! It was fun to be outdoors and get some extra steps in!

The Tractor
This term we had a new addition to the school playground. We got a tractor shaped climbing frame and slide. At first, a person came to dig the ground out. Then, they laid timber around it and laid the bark in the middle. They built the tractor on top of the bark and put a slide on the back of the tractor. We have lots of fun on it during lunch times.

Family Walk
Last week on Thursday on the 4th of June 2026, we went on a family walk in Rossmore park. The walk was half an hour long. We started at 7.00 and ended the walk at 7.30. after the walk everyone went to play in the park and then we had a really pretty sponge cake that Mrs Windrum made. The cake was for Mrs Crawford. We also had some tea, coffee or fizzy drinks and biscuits. Then we went back to playing. We had a lovely evening.
